YouTube Animators When it came to finding YouTube animators, I couldn't pick one so I decided to just pick three popular ones and give a little in depth reasoning why I chose them specifically. TheOdd1sOut is probably my favorite with personality and storytelling, while his animations (like the other two) are fairly simplistic, it adds an easier time for better animation which all of them do very well. TheOdd1sOut and Jaiden are more known for their "story time" animations while Alex Clark does more complex animation which is very intriguing. Alex is more of a vlog animator and animates his drawings in a real life setting which is actually something that you don't see often in animation and it works surprisingly well. When it comes to their art, it's very appealing with simple uncolored characters, yet it works. Even if their art isn't the most amazing, their stories and animations definitely do inspire people (such as myself) to start animating and pursuing art for fun and professionally.

Walt Disney Walt Disney is usually known for starting it all "with a mouse" but has created so many other character, shows and movies throughout his years. But the thing I'll be focusing on more is his first animation movie, "Snow White". "Snow White" was created in 1937 created from pencil and pen with the old fashion animation technique of having to redraw from pencil and paper. Line is a huge element in animation and drawing in general, Color had been just introduced in movies at the time which was used in the movie. Shape helps characters become lively yet seem still 2D. Proportion helps the characters look like how they should (like how the proportions of the dwarfs differ from Snow White). Then movement helps the characters seem almost living on paper and come alive in the film. The animation is intentionally in a cartoon way making people have defining features that aren't exactly "realistic" but emphasizes a body feature to the viewers. The animation I feel evokes a sense of awe in both the character design and animation which both are very professionally done. I've never exactly watched the movie but just from the animation, art style and how successful the movie ended up being, it definitely made a long lasting impression on Walt Disney and his career. Snow White was one of the first colored animation movies ever created so it is a historical piece that will always be remembered in film and Walt's legacy. Since animation had started to become popular after Walt Disney, many were inspired to create their own animated films which still are created to this day by the Disney company and others.
Kohei Horikoshi Kohei Horikoshi is a Japanese manga artist who has created shows such as; Barrage and the popular, My Hero Academia. Born November 1986, Horikoshi had started officially drawing manga professionally in 2007. My Hero Academia, my personal favorite show with how detailed both the characters, story and animation are and they all fit together nicely. When Horikoshi starts out ideas, he usually starts with pencil as a sketch, takes a ink pen and goes over it, then when its official they get animators that use a drawing tablet and create an episode usually having actions in "comic-like" panels. Like all of the other artists, line is a big factor of any drawing, he uses color very freely as a way to show emotion and describe his characters. His art is very balanced being very symmetrically accurate to human anatomy as possible with his art style. Contrast is key element that Horikoshi uses to make his characters seem to "pop out" which makes most of his work very interesting and pleasing to look at. When I see his artwork I sense a feeling of compassion and drive to create characters that mean something to himself and others. I love Kohei Horikoshi's work since all his characters have a similar drawing style yet feel so unique and different from each other. I feel like his artwork is becoming a piece of history as is his show "My Hero Academia" being one of the most popular anime of all time. His art influences a lot of others artwork with people being inspired by character design, art style and even what he has produced has made people make fan art of original characters and their own. With how popular him and his show is becoming, I only hope to see more of his artwork and storytelling.
Museum/Gallery Visits
Harvard Art Museums The artwork I found most intriguing and decided to analyze was "Studies for the Archangel Raphael" (picture to the left) created in France by Eustache Le Sueur in 1645. The art consists of what seems like a sketching of a angel which is drawn with black charcoal with a white paint like substance and black ink which was done on a tan paper. The size of the composition is about 22.4 x 30 cm. The artwork consists of Line, shape and form which was used to create the human-like body. The elements were used to create a good sense of proportion and balance and the charcoal and white paint had contrasted to make the subject pop out and feel like there's a sense of space. The piece is a realistic piece with a nonfiction background (being that it's an angel), when I look at this art I see it was a sketchbook page learning proportion and scale with how the face is drawn to the right of it with a full body composition near it. I feel the artwork does fit with the time period it was made in since realistic arts with religion were popular in historic periods.
Museum of Fine arts The artwork from the Museum of Fine Arts that appealed to me the most was the "Magic Lake" (Picture to the left) created in America by an unknown artist around 1840. The work was created with black and white chalk on sandpaper and is about 52.1 x 70.5 cm. The artwork is based on what seems to be a girl with a wand near a lake casting magic in moonlight. Line and Color seem to be two very key values in this artwork with the black and white seeming as a emphasis on nighttime and also a sense of mystery. Rhythm/Movement, Scale, and Emphasis also help the the art; with movement it seems like the water is moving and scale showing the people compared to the larger scenery. In a sense I feel the piece has a bit of an abstract feel to it with real life qualities to it. When I look at this piece I feel a mystery surrounded by the lake and the actions of what the people are trying to do. I like the artwork since it makes you think what the artists true intention was behind this art. The title does fit the actual artwork with a woman holding a wand at a lake, not exactly sure what she's doing, but makes the viewer come up with their own take on what's happening.
